Siebold’s hanging gardens by Nele Ströbel at Würzburg University Hospital:

“The Hanging Gardens“*

a three-part installation for the 36 m2 air spaces in each of the waiting areas of thoracic, trauma and general surgery.

Inspired by two important sons of Würzburg, Carl Casper Siebold, the founder of the Faculty of Surgery, and his grandson Philipp Franz v. Siebold**, the universalist and Japan researcher, I developed three themed rooms for the waiting areas of the Thoracic, General and Trauma Surgery departments of Würzburg University Hospital.

The thematic areas of scientific “Wunderkammern” of the von Siebold family and the research focus “Fadenlabor” of the Faculty of Surgery are implemented by three spatial works braced in the airspace
