 The glass wing

The glass wing

Competition project

100 years after Otto Lilienthal’s first gliding flights, the aerodynamically curved wing made of sprayed float glass and steel, stretching over 5 meters, refers to the flair of a modern airport.

The symbols from aviation technology, such as turbines and propellers, applied using stencil-shifting technology, “rotate” in dialogue with police stars on the wing-shaped light box, whose overall form is reminiscent of the shape of aircraft landing flaps. The backlighting of the burned-in painting creates a vivid spatial effect, emphasizing the entrance area of the police station building at Munich Airport Two.
