Competition entry for the new building of the pharmaceutical chemistry of the LMU, Munich – Großhadern. The 20-part metal room shape was developed from the floor plan of the penta-molecule ring connection (brain and Alzheimer’s research),.

Upon entering the entrance hall, visitors are greeted by five “molecular discs” projecting into the airspace of the ground floor. These are spatially oriented so that their shadows fall on the north wall. The panes absorb the points of light created by sunlight from the printed window panes and are reminiscent of large molecules formed from many pulsating atoms. CHANNEL tapers as an overall spatial form from 530 cm to 10 cm over eleven steps and two floor heights. The diagonal orientation of the elements represents the dynamics of the hall in the air space, reflecting the movement of space.
