Introduction

With her spatial art project "art and engineering," Munich sculptor Nele Stroebel demonstrates the fruitful cooperation between artistic innovation and extensive engineering achievements. One of her installations now makes visible the creative process of exploring architectural spaces and developing ideas for them.

On five thematic columns, Stroebel documents the complex developmental process of works she has realized in public spaces during the last several years. These include large works like "Kreuzblume," located in the Red Cross Hospital in Munich, "Landshuter Bogen" in the Landshut Clinic, "Trombe" in the Park Office in Essen, Germany, "vogelwolke" in the Munich Finance Court, and countless works for competitions.

Advertising columns 2.40 m in height and 1.5 m in diameter are mounted on bases and covered with digital prints of spatial works in five thematic areas. In addition to photos, the prints integrate texts, sketches, vector graphics, and screenshots. These show that from idea to realization, Nele Stroebel's art in an architectural context involves creating a CAD model, 3D model, static calculation, detailed technical planning, and creation of the digital data needed to manufacture the various works. In addition, material samples, models, and various objects document the interplay between creativity and technology. A beamer, for example, projects animations in the room itself or invites visitors to investigate objects haptically.

This use of multimedia enables a multifaceted review of Nele Stroebel's art. The installation in the foyer of the State Building Authority becomes an independent artwork in its own right.
