Dr. Marlene Lauter was born in 1955 in Erkelenz,
Germany. She studied teaching from 1974 to 1978 followed by study
of art history in Aachen. She completed her doctorate in 1988 and
was appointed head of the Würzburg city gallery in 1994 and
head of the Museum im Kulturspeicher in 2002. She focuses
intensively on contemporary art; her publications include catalogs
for the Farblicht exhibition in 1999 in the Würzburg city
gallery and the Ruppert collection on concrete art. In 1999 she
