Dr. Heidrun Friese was born in 1958 and studied
anthropology, political science, and romance languages in Munich
and Berlin. She got her doctorate at the University of Amsterdam.
She taught at the Freie Universität in Berlin and the Humboldt
Universität, has held fellowships at the Maison des Sciences
de l'Homme in Paris, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in
Bielefeld, the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the
University of California at Berkeley, and the Ecole des Hautes
Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She is a review editor for
the European Journal of Social Theory. Publications (selection):
